Annual contribution in 2020

This is an annual contribution of the 2020 Marine Botany Lab, Kagoshima University. I would like to express our gratitude to all of the students, colleagues, co-authors, and contributors.

A lot of bad things happened this year due to the virus pandemic. I am hoping next year will be better!

New article: Meristotheca papulosa

Our new article out from the Journal of Applied Phycology.
Despite the absence of red light that is essential to the photosynthesis by chlorophyll-a, a deep subtidal red alga Meristotheca papulosa can photosynthesize effectively by using the green light that penetrates into the subtidal water. Under the blue and green light exposures for 7-day culture, a phycobilisome, phycoerythrin (PE) concentration of the alga increased, suggesting improved reddish-color the alga.
