New Article: Sargassum fusiforme(ヒジキの光合成に関する論文)


Our lab's new paper was published from Phycologia!

We have reported the photosynthetic characteristics of an intertidal brown alga, Sargassum fusiforme, based on the in vitro and in situ measurements. Indeed, it was quite hard work SCUBA diving from before sunrise and through the sunset, but the data we collected were absolutely great. From the figures in our article, you can clearly see the characteristic decline of the effective quantum yield during the day and under strong irradiance.

Namalionopsis tortuosa(オキチモズクの調査)


A survey of freshwater red algae including Nemalionopsis tortuosa was carried out. This species can be found in shaded areas of irrigation canals; however, confirmed habitat is limited, and only around twenty sites have been recorded from Kyushu, Shikoku and Okinawa Islands. Presently, this species is registered as an endangered species by the Japanese Ministry of Environment.

Leptofauchea leptophylla(桜島のトゲナシマダラ)


Introducing a rare species of the red alga, Leptofauchea leptophylla that can only be found in this spring period of Kagoshima Bay.
This is quite tiny but beautiful alga that can be found on the rocks at more than 10m deep.

薩南諸島における海草の分布


2012年に水産増殖(日本水産増殖学会)から刊行された研究室の論文がオンラインでダウンロードできるようになりました。
この論文では,薩南諸島(種屋久,奄美群島)における熱帯性・温帯性海草の分布状況を明らかにしました。熱帯性の海草は沖縄以南,温帯性海草は九州以北でよく調査・研究されていますが,奄美群島や種屋久は情報が不足していました。各種の分布図から,この地域が温帯性・熱帯性海草の分布推移帯(エコトーン)であることがよく分かります。

Field laboratory class of Coastal Biodiversity(桜島での海洋多様性生物学実習)


Despite the Easter Sunday, we had an intensive field laboratory class of Coastal Biodiversity for undergraduate students.
