種子島沖で調査 (Research voyage at offshore of Tanegashima)

鹿児島大学水産学部附属練習船南星丸に乗船し，種子島の沖合で海洋調査を行いました。
We conducted the survey at offshore of Tanegashima. It was a part of research voyage of T/S Nansei-maru, Kagoshima University. 

Mageshima Island

鹿屋市で藻場調査

梅雨で調査日程が大幅に乱れてしまっています。普通は土曜に調査をしませんが，荒天で延び延びになっていた鹿屋市の藻場調査を実施しました。

調査には院生のS田君，K村君，4年生のT谷君が参加しました。船上で調査機材の確認をしていますが，この日もはっきりしない天気でした。

指宿市で調査 (Field survey at Ibusuki City)

修士2年のK堀君が鹿児島湾に面した指宿市で藻場調査を行いました。彼はここで一年以上生態調査を続けていますが，今回が最後の調査になるかもしれません。
Takahiro, MS Candidate, conducted his field survey at Ibusuki City facing the Kagoshima Bay.  In this site, he has been conducting the survey of some Sargassum species in the past one year. Probably, this time might be the last survey for his MS thesis.

天草牛深でサンゴ・海藻調査 (Field survey in Ushibuka, Amakusa Island)

修士1年のW邉君が国立K境研のサンゴモニタリング調査に参加し，サンゴ群集周辺に見られる海藻の生育状況を調査しました。モニタリングにはQ大天草臨海実験所の研究者も参加され，魚類相を調査していました。

Yuki, MS candidate, attended a field survey of coral community conducted by the researchers of NIES (National Institute for Environmental Studies). He surveyed seaweed community structure on the corals. Two researchers of AMBL (Amakusa Marine Biological Laboratory, Kyushu University) also joined it to record the fish fauna.

鹿児島県錦江町で藻場調査 (Field survey at Kinko Town, Kagoshima Bay)

週がかわって11日，今日は大隅半島南部の錦江町大根占で藻場調査をおこないました。

On June 11, we carried out the field survey at Ohnejime Town, the southern part of Ohsumi Peninsula, Kagoshima Bay.

垂水市で藻場調査 (Field survey in Tarumizu, Kagoshima Bay)

今年は，鹿児島湾の大隅半島側（垂水市，鹿屋市，錦江町）の藻場調査を受託しています。海岸線の距離は30km以上になりますが，ほぼすべての海岸線を調査して藻場の分布を調べます。6月7−8日の両日，まずは垂水市の沿岸で調査をおこないました。

This year, as the conservation project of seaweed community that is supported  by national and local governments, we will conduct the distributional survey of seaweed/seagrass community along the coast of Ohsumi Peninsula in the Kagoshima Bay. Distance of coastline is estimated more than 30km.

ひらめきときめきサイエンスの海藻押し葉観察会：「かごしま海の森図鑑」をつくろう

日本学術振興会の「ひらめきときめきサイエンスKAKENHI」に応募したら，採択になりました。
夏休みの冒頭に，小学校5-6年生を対象者とした海藻押し葉観察会をおこないます。テングサから寒天ゼリーをつくって試食もします。夏休みの自由研究にいかがですか？

Diving-PAMを使って藻場調査 (Field survey in Nagashima)

M1のS田君，W邊君がDiving-PAMを使って長島町で藻場調査をおこないました。 長島町は鹿児島県北西部に位置し，鹿児島大学水産学部東町ステーションがあるところです。
Two MS students conducted their field survey in Nagashima Island, that is located northwestern part of Kagoshima. They used the Diving-PAM to measure quantum yield of Eckloniopsis radicosa.

MS student published a paper regarding the photosynthetic and temperature tolerance of five Sargassum species, from the bulletin of Japanese Society of Fisheries Science in March. It is written in Japanese, but English summary and caption included.

南西諸島北部で調査航海 (Research voyage to Northern Ryukyu Islands)

鹿児島大学水産学部附属練習船南星丸に乗船し，南西諸島北部で調査航海をおこないました。兼任している鹿児島大学国際島嶼教育研究センターとの総合学術調査です。海藻研の他に，民族植物学，社会学，公衆衛生学，生態学の研究者が乗船しました。
We had visited Northern Ryukyu Islands including Satsuma-Iwojima by our university vessel, Nanseimaru. Satsuma-Iwojima is an isolated island in the northern part of Ryukyu Islands. This research voyage was conducted as the joint survey with the RCPI (Research Center for the Pacific Islands of Kagoshima University) and the students of departments of Law and Letters.
