ひらめき☆ときめきサイエンスKAKENHIのプログラム「発見！体感！本物の海藻を見てさわって食べて「海の森図鑑」をつくろう」の2日目が開催されました。

最後には，世界でひとつだけ，自分だけの「海の森図鑑」ができあがりました。

Muroran Marine Lab of Hokkaido University （北大室蘭実験所）

1年ぶりに北海道大学北方生物圏フィールド科学研究センター室蘭臨海実験所を訪問しました。

This week, I am staying at the Muroran Marine Laboratory of Hokkaido University. I have to come back home this weekend, but will be back here in September.

ひらめきときめきサイエンスで海藻講座を実施（1日目）

日本学術振興会ひらめきときめきサイエンスKAKENHIに採択されたプログラム「発見！体感！本物の海藻を見てさわって食べて「海の森図鑑」をつくろう」の1日目を実施しました。昨年に続いて2回目の開催です。30名の児童が参加しました。

最初に，プログラムの全体を説明しました。写真は，昨年の参加者が作成した「海の森図鑑」を紹介しているところです。
これは自分で海藻押し葉をつくり，最終日に図鑑にして持ち帰ります。本物の海藻を使った世界で自分だけの（自分でつくった）図鑑です。

ひらめきときめきサイエンスでは40種前後の海藻を用意していますが，冬から春に生育する海藻は繁茂期に採取して冷凍しておきます。ただし，ミル類だけは冷凍すると独特の質感と弾力が失われるため，前日に採りに行きました。

イカは一般にガラモ場やアマモ場に卵を産みますが，ナガミルにも 産みつけるのですね。

奄美群島の生物多様性シンポジウムで講演

鹿児島の3学会（植物学会，動物学会，生態学会）の合同支部例会で講演しました。シンポジウムのテーマは「奄美群島の生物多様性」で，今回は魚類，ベントス，海産植物に関するお話でした。

Field survey in Nagshima Island （長島町で調査）

We conducted the field survey in Nagashima Island. Indeed, this survey had been postponed by bad weather in the past a few weeks. Today, it was the fine summer weather with calm waves.  Rain season was gone!

Padina minor（ウスユキウチワを採取）

We conducted a field survey in Ibusuki City to collect some seaweeds including Padina minor. Collected materials will be used for the laboratory class of Marine Botany for undergraduate students.

ほぼすべての個体に生殖器床ができていました。

南九州市川辺町清水のオキチモズク生育地が半減

 実験に使う湧き水を汲みに南九州市川辺町清水のオキチモズク生育地に行きました。

  湧水地はきれいに管理されており，ゴミひとつありません。

公民館から小学校にかけての水路

このあたりが一番多いところです。斜面に生い茂る木々の木陰になり，オキチモズクに適した光量になります。しかし。その先にあったものは・・・

Seaweed flora survey in Yoron Is (与論島で藻場調査を実施）

Second day....

We conducted the seaweed flora survey with local fisherman. It was clear sky with calm waves. It is an absolutely good day for survey.

2日目
地元の漁業者の方と藻場調査を実施しました。とっても天気のよい日で，調査日よりでした。

Thorea gaudichaudii（与論島のシマチスジノリ）

Thorea gaudichaudii is a fresh water alga originally known from Guam in the Mariana Islands. In Japan, this species has been confirmed only from Ryukyu Islands including Okinawa, Miyako, Hateruma and Yoron Is, and can be found in small freshwater springs used by local inhabitants.

This species was reported from Yoron Is. in early spring (Suzawa et al. 2010). Today, we visited there to confirm its status in summer season.
Two other freshwater algae, Nemalionopsis tortuosa and Thorea okadae, generally occur in winter and disappear by summer in Kagoshima Prefecture. However, it was present today in Yoron Is.

シマチスジノリは熱帯から亜熱帯にかけての湧水地に生育する淡水紅藻で，環境省のレッドリストでは絶滅危惧I類(CR+EN)に記載されています。日本で確認されている生育地のほとんどは沖縄県ですが，その多くで群落が消失しています。

独立行政法人日本学術振興会ひらめきときめきサイエンスKAKENHI（注）に採択された公開講座を実施します。昨年度に引き続き2回目の開催で，鹿大で唯一の採択事業です。

Pyropia tenera（アサクサノリの果胞子嚢と造精器）

鹿児島大学水産学部3年生向けの学生実験でアサクサノリの果胞子嚢と造精器を観察しました。

表面観で見ると，果胞子嚢が4細胞（1細胞全体では8細胞），精子嚢が16細胞（1細胞全体では64細胞）に分かれているのがわかります。
学生実験は毎週2コマ，7月末まで続きます。

Meristotheca papulosa in Makurazaki（枕崎のトサカノリ）

Meristotheca papulosa is known as an edible alga for seaweed salad, and is harvested by fisherman using SCUBA in this season. We attended a harvest and auction event of this alga that was held in Makurazaki City Fishermen's Cooperative. It is the last harvest in this season.

枕崎市漁協のトサカノリ収穫に立ち会いました。今季最後の収穫で，約５kgを実習用に購入しました。昨年は佐多などで不漁でしたが，今年は薩摩・大隅半島の両方ともよく採れたようです。

Coral and seaweed survey at Kasasa, Kagoshima（笠沙で海藻とサンゴの調査）

Two students of Marine Botany Lab, Yuki and Asami-san, conducted their coral and seaweed survey at Kasasa, Kagoshima Prefecture. Kasasa is located at south-western part of Kagoshima mainland facing East China Sea.
They are studying about the habitat and photobiological characteristics of the coral and seaweed communities.

海藻研のW辺君とT木さんが笠沙の大当でサンゴと海藻の生育状況を調査しました。この場所は，鹿児島県本土でも有数のサンゴ群生地です。息をのむような美しさでした。

Field survey in Nagashima（長島で調査を実施）

A MS student Soku-kun conducted his field survey using Diving-PAM in Nagashima Island, Kagoshima Prefecture.

修士2年のS田君が長島でDiving-PAMを使った調査を行いました。今回は水深2mから25mまで測定しましたが，深い方の潮の流れが少し早かったですね。今回のデータまでで結果を取り纏め，日本水産学会秋季大会で発表の予定です。

Hydropuntia eucheumatoides Survey（リュウキュウオゴノリの調査）

We conducted the field survey at an island offshore of Nha Trang City to collect some species of Gracilaria including Hydropuntia eucheumatoides. It is known as one of the edible alga that is sold at the local market in Nha Trang. Although, it is listed as one of the endangered species in Japan due to the degradation of the Japanese habitat.
今日はボートを借り切って，Nha Trang市の沖合にあるHon Tre島で調査をおこないました。今日のターゲットは，市場でも売られていたリュウキュウオゴノリです。本種は（ベトナムで）食用にされる有用種ですが，日本では環境省のレッドリストに掲載されている（日本での絶滅が危惧される）絶滅危惧種です。

Sargassum Harvest in Nha Trang

On the fourth day in Nha Trang, Vietnam, we conducted the field survey at Hon Chong district to collect seaweeds. Before arriving at sampling site, we stopped at a sandy beach. We could see some fisherman's activity.

Fisherman harvested Sargassum after the drying.

After that, we conducted the field survey, and finished the collecting samples successfully. Tomorrow, we will conduct another survey at a site that is located in the offshore island.

新しい論文がでました。北大の山田さんの論文で，馬毛島の漸深帯水深30mに生育する新奇な渦鞭毛藻類です。

Kappaphycus survey in Vietnam

I am staying in Vietnam to conduct a PAM survey since the last weekend. This is the photo of my temporal base at the fisherman's housing that is facing Kappaphycus farm. I am measuring the diurnal change of  photosynthesis at every hour during daytime.

Kappaphycus farm is located in the Cam Ranh Bay that can be arrived at within one hour drive from Nha Trang City. There is no waves, but the current is quite strong like a river.

Nha Trang 今昔

Nha Trangを前回訪れたのは1999年ですが，当時と現在の街の変貌ぶりには驚くばかりです。ちなみに，1990年代初頭からベトナムを訪れているK口先生よると，1990年初頭のころはインフラ整備も遅れており，すごかったとか。

今回お世話になったNha Trang Institute of Research and Application。建物は変わりませんが，すっかりきれいになって，エレベータがついていました。

Edible seaweeds in the market （ベトナム・ニャチャン市のダム市場で見つけた食用海藻）

Before starting our field survey in the sea, we visited a public market in Nha Trang City. Although it was more than ten years ago, I visited here when I attended a international workshop on the taxonomy of economic seaweeds.
海での調査を始める前に，ニャチャン市のダム市場に行きました。ここは1999年に訪れたときにも来ているところで，建物は変わっていませんでした。
