南さつま市のオキチモズク (Nemalionopsis tortuosa in Kagoshima)

薩摩半島南部の南さつま市で，オキチモズクの生育調査をおこないました。
オキチモズクは環境省レッドリストに掲載されている絶滅危惧種で，水のきれいな用水路などに生育します。生育地は全国でも十数カ所程度です。

Field survey of Nemalionopsis tortuosa has started in Kagoshima Prefecture. As the first step, we visited Kawanabe Town of Satsuma Peninsula. This species can be found in the clean creek at the country side, and is recorded as an endangered species by Japanese Ministry of Environment.

海藻ではなく，淡水藻を研究することになったF本さん。用水路をひたすら歩きます。次は麦わら帽と日焼け止めが必要ですね。
Although she is a member of "Marine" Botany Lab, she chose freshwater algae for her BS thesis material. She walked a long distance along the creek.

湧水地から流れる用水路に生育するオキチモズク。水は飲料用に汲みに来る人がいるほど澄んでいます。

もう1ヶ所の生育地では，三面張りコンクリートの壁面に密生しているところもありました。

これから光合成の実験もしてみる予定です。
