Two students carried out their field survey in Nagashima Island, that is located northwestern part of Kagoshima.
アントクメの多い年はトサカノリが不漁になることは漁業者の経験談としてよく聞きます。今年は冬の水温が低く，5月になって低いまま推移しています。もしやと思って潜ってみると・・・同じ場所をモニタリングで潜り始めて数年になりますが，アントクメの繁茂状況は過去最大でした。トサカノリがほとんど見あたりません。
According to the experience of local fisherman, they cannot find any Meristotheca if Eckloniopsis dominated on the substratum. This year, seawater temperature of winter season was relatively lower than previous years, suggesting that it was good condition for temperate species, rather than tropical species.
Although I have been conducting the monitoring survey at this field since three years ago, I have never seen such a large Eckloniopsis forest. It was really amazing thing.
